Itinerary
Airport - Lhasa. On arrival in Lhasa (3650m), meet by our representatives and transfer to hotel. On our way to hotel, we can enjoy the heart-beating highland view along this Yarlong Tsangpo River (Brahmaputra). Get full rest for acclimatization. Overnight in Lhasa.
Lhasa. After breakfast, visiting one of the most charismatic structures ever build in Tibet, the Potala palace, winter residence for the successive Dalailamas. It is an awe-inspiring experience. Venture up the Potala Palace and explore the grandest of its myriad rooms. See the jeweled burial chortens of the past Dalai Lamas as well as statuary and frescos.In the after-noon visit Jokhang Temple, the holist temple in Tibetan Buddhist world. After your sightseeing, visit Woeser Zedro tea house, this is one of the favorite tea houses that local Tibetans would go on their leisure. Overnight in Lhasa.
Lhasa. Morning time will be spent in Norbulinka which is Dalai Lama's summer palace. Later, we will go to visit the Sera monastery where lively lama debating will be seen (except Sundays). Overnight in Lhasa
Lhasa –Namtso. Today drive Damshong, visit the Lake Namtso, which is also known as the Heavenly Lake. Namtso, another holy lake in Tibet, is located near Damshung is the highest saltwater lake in the world and the second largest saltwater lake in China. Visit local nomad’s family. Overnight at Damshung county.
Namtso -Reting Monastery. After breakfast, trip to Reting Monastery. Rering was founded by Atisha’s chief disciple Dromton in 1057 in the Reting Tsangpo Valley north of Lhasa as the seat of the Kadam lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Thereafter, hiking nearby and visit village. Overnight Stay in lodge.
Reting –Drigong Til Monastery – Terdrom Hot spring. Proceed to Drigong til monastery, which was founded in 1179. Traditionally it has been the main seat of the Drigung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. In its early years the monastery played an important role in both religion and politics. There after transfer to Terdrom. Terdrom nunnery is well known for retreat and meditation since 7th century. At that time Guru Padmasambava and his consort Khadro Yeshi Tsogyal had meditated and their caves can still be visited now. The hot spring is also popular with its natural healing power and you will have time to enjoy it in the evening. Overnight in hotel with hot spring facilities
Terdrom – Ganden – Lhasa. Proceed for transfer to Lhasa. En route we will visit the famous Ganden monastery, founded by Tsongkapa in 15th century and later became one of the main Buddhist learning centers for Gelugpa sect (one of the four sects in Tibetan Buddhism). The monastery is located on the top of the Wango hill (4500m) and from there it will offer a great view of Khyichu Valley. Overnight in Lhasa.
